About Us

The An Nahl Sharjah are a unique and successful professional basketball club. Since starting out in 2000 the now UAE League  based club has worked hard to promote the sport on and off the court in the local community and surrounding areas.


An Nahl Sharjah basketball club currently play at a 600-seat facility at the An Nahl Sharjah sport complex , which has an excellent location and good transport links.


We are looking forward to moving into our new build 20,000 seater capacity stadium, which will be a state of the art 20,000 seat arena with first class facilities. The Arena will be opening its doors to both the team members and the general public in May 5th 2012, ahead of the new season.  It is due to become the new home of the An Nahl Sharjah in May 2012.

The club was formed in May 2000 by King Saheed Mashi  with its home venue then at Dubai sport city. .

Following successes on and off the court, the An Nahl Sharjah were promoted to the then Division One for the 2001/02 season. 


The 2003/04 season was the most successful season for the An Nahl Sharjah so far.  We finished 1st position in UAE Division 2 and won the Patron's Cup and the Play-Off Final, gaining promotion to Division 1.


In 2005/06 we won the National Trophy Final at the Coventry SkyDome beating Al Shabab. Late June 2006 saw the announcement that the An Nahl Sharjah would join the United Emirate League (UAEL) the following season. 

The basketball experience we offer appeals to a wide audience. As well as fast moving high quality professional sport, the entertainment on game night includes light shows, music, cheerleaders and a lot of crowd participation with "Ansharj" the An Nahl Sharjah mascot leading the way.


Players are selected from home-grown talent and overseas professionals. The UAE season starts in MAY and finishes in DECEMBER consisting of between 60 and 65 games, plus cup competitions and end of season play-offs.


An Nahl Sharjah basketball team also travel to different country for international competition.
